Melanocyte Transfer

Melanocyte Transfer technique is the latest surgical therapy for Vitiligo

Melanocytes are pigment cells of the skin.

Vitiligo and  Leucoderma are one and the same.

Using a small sample of your normal skin, melanocytes (Pigment cells) are extracted in the lab.

These melanocytes (Pigment cells) are then transplanted to the areas on your body that lack pigment.

There is no need of hospitalization.

4. Cosmetic results are superior.

5. Difficult areas like fingers can be treated

6. No scarring seen after surgery.

7. No immobilizing dressings.

  • Vitiligo (Leucoderma)  is an important skin disease having major impact on quality of life of patients, many of whom feel distressed and stigmatized by their condition.

  • Society greets vitiligo (Leucoderma) patients in much the same way as it does any one else who appears to be different.

  • They are started at or subjected to whispered comments, antagonism, insult or isolation.

  • The chronic nature of disease, long term treatment, lack of uniform effective therapy and unpredictable course of disease is usually very demoralizing for patients suffering from vitiligo (Leucoderma)

  • It is important to recognize and deal with psychological components of this disease to improve their quality of life and to obtain a better treatment response.
